Screaming into the void about Ruthless Idols by Michelle Hercules. This was so good and we’re getting more of the story bit by bit. The love I had for Bryce in book 1? Growing by the minute. The suspicions I had about Phoenix? HEARTBREAKINGLY CONFIRMED. Let’s get into it!
We pick up right where Book 1 finishes, with Bryce saving Daisy from death. God, have I mentioned how much I love Bryce? We finally get our payoff with Bryce and Daisy letting their passions loose and it was beyond hot. Unfortunately, they are quickly interrupted when the rest of the Four arrive and find that Bryce is the first to taste the alluring norm. The first, but not the only as Daisy makes the rounds with two others, leaving only a single member of the Four wanting.
Phoenix? Heartbreaking. I suspected in the first book and it was confirmed in this one. I was nauseated. It was the worst and I just wanted to wrap him up and shower him in comfort. I have a feeling we’ll be getting more sad backstories and all these boys just deserve so much kindness. I’m also desperate to see if Morpheus’ vision comes true.
Plot progresses and this is a little bit where it falters. I think the reason it falters, for me, is because the ‘twist’ isn’t new. It matches exactly what happened in Hercules’ Blueblood Vampire series, which was disappointing. I’m still going to keep reading. I’m still intrigued and invested. But I’m just sad that it wasn’t something more, something new and fresh.
Ruthless Idols by Michelle Hercules keeps the tension taught from book 1, building on the heat and plot. Yes, a definite recommendation.
