The second book in the Cub Shifter series, Bearly Taken by Lola Glass has a bit more angst than the first book in the series, but still leaves you feeling happy. This one focuses on Wren, who ended up mated and pregnant with her hook-up’s cub after he left her. Yes, this is a second-chance, single mom miscommunication romance. While those aren’t necessarily my favorite tropes, they worked so well here. I really loved Wren and felt for her and the position she was left in. She tried her best to make a shitty situation workable while tending to her broken heart. Meanwhile, Reed was keeping away as culture dictated he must, absolutely heartbroken and never realizing what he’d done. Watching them grow closer and Reed work to make up all the harm he caused was great. I liked the spice better in this one than Bearly Mated, but that makes sense considering Wren and Reed had that previous connection whereas Hudson was a virgin with Callie for the first time. I think if you want a low angst single mom romance that you can read in a sitting, you’ll enjoy this!
