The second book in the Wildwood series, The Art of Avoiding Your Alpha by Lola Glass, remains cute and steamy, though is pretty much a rinse and repeat of the first book. It honestly didn’t bother me because it’s a good formula and I’m not going into these paranormal romances expecting someone to reinvent the wheel.
With this book, we follow Ronin and Tori. I really enjoyed their chemistry. It felt different from Madd and Love’s relationship. Here, we have Ronin dead certain Tori is his mate and Tori doing everything possible to cover her scent. It isn’t enough and, instead of playing it slow, Ronin just grabs Tori and whisks her away so they can figure themselves out. There was more interpersonal angst between the two as both struggled to understand the other’s point-of-view. The spice was okay, as was the resolution. I loved that it did feel like Ronin and Tori compromised toward the end on what their relationship could be.
If you liked the first book in the Wildwood series, and are okay with reading it again but with a different flavor, I’d say you’ll enjoy The Art of Avoiding Your Alpha by Lola Glass. It’s formulaic, but hey, it works.
