review

I normally don’t do mafia romances. That said, I picked up Asher Black by Parker S Huntington after really enjoying another of the author’s book (Devious Lies.) Asher Black may have sold me on mafia romances.

Lucy is pretty flat as main female character. A lot has happened to her off screen, but unfortunately, none of it makes sense or is interesting enough She’s an orphan but has managed to learn a few different languages and spend time traveling. She’s terrified for her life, but does nothing about it. She’s upset and offended, but it doesn’t matter because Asher Black is hot and rich. And girl, I get it. There are a lot of things I’d put up with for a rich billionaire, but damn get a grip. Ultimately, Lucy feels like a blank cut-out for the reader, which isn’t bad.

Asher Black, on the other hand, I really enjoyed. He seemed mysterious, and obviously was rich (can you tell my fave romance is billionaire romance?) He was full of conflict and shame but really wanted to change. He took care of Lucy from the start. His backstory was intriguing and he felt more fleshed out than Lucy for sure.

Asher Black by Parker S Huntington was a good slow-burn romance that had sex, romance, angst, yearning, and action. It was a good ‘popcorn’ book to read quickly.
