I think if you are starting to pick this series up in 2024 and have been on the fence, Summer Knight by Jim Butcher will likely put you off. If you’re willing to keep trudging through, I think it will pay off. Summer Knight definitely sets the stage for later
Would I recommend? Yes, and the series gets better! Again, this is a ‘re-read’ as I listened to the audiobook for the first time. Marsters continues to be the best voice for Harry Dresden and I can only picture him now as the lanky, cantankerous wizard. Onto the book itself!

I am a huge fan of the Dresden files, so when I was given the opportunity to read the graphic novel, I was excited. Sadly, my excitement did not pay off as the realisation that novel to comic is much harder to pull off than it appears on the surface.
To say I had been anxiously awaiting this book would be an understatement. Book 14 in the series, Cold Days, ended with Harry, the Winter Knight, remaining on the creepfest island of Demonreach and Molly, his one-time apprentice and daughter of his best (only?) friend, becoming the new Winter Lady.
Ghost Story picks up ‘right after’ the cliffhanger of sorts Butcher gives us at the end of Changes. Harry really is dead. Well, probably. Possibly… Maybe? The possibilities are endless as Harry tries to answer these questions while simultaneously looking after his loved ones and solve his own murder. A
