No Road Home by John Fram

No Road Home by John Fram had me absolutely feral while reading. This was an amazingly perfect example of American Gothic literature and had everything I want in a novel. Great characters, clues that you don’t realize until after the fact, tragedy so real it hurts, and amazing sense of pacing.

Seasonal Fears by Seanan McGuire

Seasonal Fears by Seanan McGuire is not Middlegame. It follows a different story and gets to that ending through different means. I need you to understand that when you pick this up because I see so many others disappointed that it isn’t Middlegame. This is a story where you have the pieces and have to put the puzzle together before anyone else does. There’s loyalty and devotion, and what spoke most importantly of all to me, discovering the reality of free will and choice.

Heartless Hunter by Kristen Ciccarelli

Pleasantly surprised by “Heartless Hunter” by Kristen Ciccarelli, I was drawn into a captivating fantasy romance. While light on world-building, the story’s strength lies in its compelling characters, notably Alex and Gideon, whose complex relationships with Rune adds delicious angst. The solid plot, with quick pacing and a slight twist, promises an intriguing series conclusion.

The Only Good Indians by Stephen Graham Jones

I had seen the cover of The Only Good Indians by Stephen Graham Jones around for a while as friends and mutuals added the book to their TBRs. Each time I’d come across it, I’d think wow, I really should pick that up. It’s an absolute shame I didn’t pick it up until three years […]

A Darker Shade of Magic by VE Schwab

“A Darker Shade of Magic” by VE Schwab, a fantasy masterpiece, captivates with intricate worldbuilding. Schwab crafts four distinct Londons, each with a unique essence. The plot, subtle and compelling, unfolds with well-placed foreshadowing. Pacing improves as the story snowballs, leading to an emotional journey. Memorable characters like Rhy and Kell shine, but Holland steals the spotlight. An unmissable entry in the fantasy genre. Pick it up and immerse yourself in this masterclass of new fantasy storytelling!

Consider Me by Becka Mack

“Consider Me” by Becka Mack nails the pacing, avoiding instant love in favor of a gradual, earned connection. It delves into characters’ lives apart, providing a deep understanding. Olivia, determined and seeking true love, contrasts with Carter, an NHL playboy averse to love until Olivia makes him work for it. A quintessential hockey romance with the right blend of sport, romance, spice, and character development. Highly recommended for spicy hockey romance enthusiasts and romance lovers alike!

Final Offer by Lauren Asher

Avoiding the finale of what I love is a thing, so it took me a year to dive into Final Offer by Lauren Asher, concluding the Dreamland Billionaires series. Callahan Kane stole my heart as the ultimate favorite brother, struggling with self-love and trust. The narrative’s realistic portrayal of addiction and emotional battles resonated, making it a stand-out in romance. Highly recommended, even as a standalone.

The Love Hypothesis by Ali Hazelwood

Finally picked up The Love Hypothesis by Ali Hazelwood, and boy, was it worth it! This cute and sweet romance had me giggling wildly at 2 AM. Olive, a smart and independent character, takes charge, leading to the hilarious fake relationship with Adam, the supposed ‘big, bad jerk.’ Their palpable chemistry and miscommunication struggles make this a must-read for romance lovers. Highly recommended!

Butcher & Blackbird by Brynne Weaver

Absolutely captivated by Butcher & Blackbird by Brynne Weaver! An exhilarating blend of romance and darkness, this serial killer romcom breaks the mold with intense spice, a perfectly-paced romance, and well-rounded characters. Rowan and Sloan’s journey unfolds brilliantly, making it one of the healthiest dark romances. Highly recommend for fans of Mindf*ck series!

Middlegame by Seanan McGuire

Middlegame by Seanan McGuire is an amazing fantasy/magic realism novel with strong prose and exquisite characters. An absolute must read, just remember to have a box of tissues nearby!

The Hunting Moon by Susan Dennard

The Hunting Moon by Susan Dennard is a compelling sequel, exploring the protagonist Winnie’s physical and emotional journey, and her relationships. The book unfolds with a mix of slow-paced emotional introspection and fast-paced action. Its plot leaves the readers with more questions even as it reveals more about the world. Dennard’s portrayal of Winnie as a young, imperfect teenager, not all-knowing but growing, adds authenticity to the narrative. Highly recommended for those who enjoyed the first book in the series.

All the Lies by S. T. Abby

Typical spoiler warning for all previous books in this series All the Lies by S. T. Abby is the pinnacle of the Mindf*ck series so far. Fast paced, brutal, haunting. I read this in one sitting despite having to put it down multiple times because I could not process what was happening. Because everything was […]

The Hollow Ones by Guillermo del Toro and Chuck Hogan

This is one of the first audiobooks I ever picked up and decided to try listening to. Three years later, once I finally got into audiobooks and was able to take time to listen and comprehend what was going on, I picked The Hollow Ones by Guillermo del Toro and Chuck Hogan up again. Absolutely […]

Wild Thing by Michelle Hercules

Long and short of it: WAY better than the first in the series. If you pick up the first book for free on Amazon Prime, this second one is DEFINITELY worth shelling out for. The first book in this series, Dark Prince, I honestly liked but was not blown away. Was happy enough with it […]

Terms and Conditions by Lauren Asher

Long and short of it: Fun, angst, happily ever after romance that works great as a palate cleanser! So, I there I was, stuck in the middle of another long reading slump and unable to find something to get me back into reading when I decided to look at the romance section of Kindle Unlimited. […]
