Riding His Spaceship by Marian Pattechat was a successful Stuff Your Kindle event grab! I saw the cover and wasn’t convinced, but the summary sold me and I’m glad it did! This was a cute and fun alien romance that has definitely put this author on my radar.
There’s plot apart from the romance, but it is fairly standard and straight forward – especially for the alien romance genre. Considering I went into this expecting something light and fluffy, I was more than okay with that! If I’m going into a book for the romance, I don’t need wildly crazy and intricate plots. Intergalactic people smuggling ring is a tried and true standard conflict that doesn’t require much, if any, thought, letting the romance shine.
The romance was sweet. Dargus is a bit of a doofus. He isn’t suave and doesn’t know what he’s doing, but by God, he tries his best. He’s a complete nerd who tries to flirt by the literal book. He’s conflicted, self-deprecating, and absolutely in love with Emilia, who wants absolutely nothing to do with him. In fact, all Emilia wants is to go back home. She was a fun and vibrant foil to Dargus. She had no idea what she was doing, but by God, she was going to wing it full steam ahead. They worked really well together, as both crime fighting partners and romantic lovers.
Considering this is only $3 to buy (at time of this review,) or free on Kindle Unlimited, I definitely think Riding His Spaceship by Marian Pattechat is a fun and enjoyable read. If you’re in the mood for a palette cleanser or something quick and easy to read that will leave you feeling sweet, definitely give this a chance!
