The Invisible Life of Addie La Rue meets This is How You Lose The Time War in this fantastical love story that defies death as two souls reincarnate through the centuries.
They've loved each other in a thousand lifetimes. They've killed each other in every one.

Evelyn remembers all her past lives. She also remembers that in every single one, she’s been murdered before her eighteenth birthday by Arden, a supernatural being whose soul―and survival―is tethered to hers.
The problem is that she’s quite fond of the life she’s in now, and her little sister needs her for bone marrow transplants in order to stay alive. If Evelyn wants to save her sister, she’ll have to:
1. Find the centuries-old devil who hunts her through each life―before they find her first.2. Figure out why she’s being hunted and finally break their curse.3. Try not to fall in love.

This book absolutely devastated me. Our Infinite Fates by Laura Steven absolutely became my a top read of 2025 and an all time favorite. I don’t think I remember a time where I’ve cried more than I did with this. The writing is beautiful. We get current day chapters mixed in with snippets of Arden and Evelyn’s past lives/deaths, along with some gorgeously written poetry. From beginning to end, everything is just so purposely written and mentioned. I continually found myself saying wait a minute and flipping back to catch the connections being made.

While at first glance, this is a romance between two souls along with a mystery as to their circumstances. If you read it at this very surface level, it’s great. You feel the love between the two characters, as well as the betrayal and hurt. You can’t help but want them to finally be allowed to be together. To be at peace. But, once your start looking at it a bit deeper, my god, the deeper meanings just blew me away. The varying answers as to what is love, what does it mean to love, and how despite having contrasting answers, they are both valid and honest and right. There is a rawness to love that is both gorgeous and grotesque, raw pain and joy, suffering and yearning and pleasure. It’s everything ugly and everything beautiful because love is so multifaceted it cannot be viewed as a singular. It is overwhelming and all encompassing. We see how love is unbearable to hold and to be without.

Our Infinite Fates by Laura Steven is quite simply one of the best books I’ve read in a very long time. It is tragic and Orphic with a bittersweet pair of endings. Personally, I was not comforted by the end but I am trying very hard to not spoil anything. I think some people will consider this a happily ever after, but I am simply devastated. Despite reading this as an advanced copy, I already purchased one deluxe edition as a pre-order and am on my way to pick up a second copy just to annotate and highlight the words that will stay with me for a long time to come.
